Built in the mid-19th century, this pleasant, well-run property overlooking Kinsale Harbour has been a hotel since the 1940s, though a recent renovation has smoothed out a few wrinkles. Guestrooms aren’t huge, but they’re nicely designed, with very large beds and lovely harbor views. In a town where it’s easy to find accommodations with character but not lacking modern conveniences, you’ll welcome the few extras such as an elevator (rare around here) and a swimming pool. The hotel’s two restaurants are good, but you’ve also got Kinsale and all its wonderful restaurants on your doorstep.
