Langdon Hall

This Relais & Châteaux property was Ontario’s first restaurant to earn the much-vaunted Relais Gourmands status (a title held by the French Laundry and Fat Duck, among others). The inn is spectacular, but if the weather’s agreeable, work up an appetite by exploring its expansive grounds: a pleasing mix of manicured lawns, English gardens, and rustic woodlands. Even those not staying overnight can enjoy the inn’s glamorous public rooms, with wood-burning fires in winter and lush garden views in summer. While the scenery is unparalleled, the kitchen aims to match, and it succeeds. Seasonal ingredients are turned into exquisite fare under the direction of chef Jonathan Gushue, and the wine list is extensive. Tea is served on the canopied veranda.
