As soon as you reach the arrivals desk of the resort in the extreme southwest corner of the island, you know you’re somewhere special. The sweeping views out to sea and the relaxed and assured manner of the staff are just the beginning of a truly unforgettable experience. The super-modern one- and two-bedroom pool villas have huge TVs, stylish marble bathrooms with over-sized free-standing bathtubs, and the sunset views across the infinity pool, looking over a cluster of islands toward the mainland, are to die for. Jahn (p. ###), their signature fine dining restaurant, is out-of-this-world-good. The beach in front of the resort is not great for swimming as there are some rocks in the bay, but few will worry about this as all villas have their own pool. Enjoy gratis snorkeling trips to nearby islands or stake a claim to your own “island” on a floating hammock in the sea—a butler will even bring drinks. As with most ultra-luxe resorts on the island, the Conrad is built into a cliff, and golf carts whisk guests from the room to restaurants and back again.
