It may not be on the beach, but there’s a wonderful ambiance at this classy joint located in the middle of rice paddies, where you can sit on the terrace soaking up the view or more comfortably in the air-conditioned interior. Take your pick from classic Thai dishes such as yam hua plee (a spicy banana-flower salad), the famous duck, or international favorites like grilled sirloin steak and marinated rack of lamb. The menu is rounded out with a wide choice of cocktails and a healthy selection of wines. A definite plus is that service, which can often be sloppy (read inattentive) on Samui, is spot-on here. The restaurant also has well-regarded cooking school and hosts rice-planting lessons.
