Kos Archaeological Museum
This small museum was built by the Italians during the time they ruled the island. It houses some local gems, including a 2nd- or 3rd-century-a.d. mosaic bordered by beautifully sculpted statues (Hippocrates overseeing the arrival of Asklepios is the theme); and a 2nd-century-b.c. sculpture of a ram adoring a seated Hermes with winged shoes. Don't miss the 4th-century-b.c., larger-than-life statue of Hippocrates.
