Kosice residents remember with horror the mid-1990s, when pretty much the entire Hlavná ulica was torn apart during the city's general large-scale renovation. One of the more unusual finds at that time was this intricate system of medieval fortifications, town walls, bastions, and even sewage systems, now buried underground, going all the way back to the late Middle Ages.
