In general, Krabi tends to be a fairly expensive place to bed down, but there are lots of low season deals. Book high season rooms well in advance and remember that even budget hotels have compulsory dinners on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Read the fine print because some of those dinners could add 5,000B-10,000B per person to the final bill.

Despite a booming number of guesthouses, few travelers will choose to stay in Krabi Town as there’s no beach there. But if you’re stuck or are too tired to leave, Maritime Park & Spa (; 1 Tungfah Rd.; tel. 07562-0028) is clean and dependable with rooms from 1,200B. Pak-Up Hostel (; 87 Utaraki Rd.; tel. 07561-1955) is the most popular hostel in Krabi; its spic-and-span dorms start at 380B and rooms are 850B. There is a fun-loving bar outside the hostel with open-mic nights and beer pong and a generous happy hour that goes until 9:30pm.
