Surrounded by abandoned buildings, Krakow’s military museum contains enough displays to stir the imagination of most all youngsters, even those with only a passing interest in history. Displays focus on the Warsaw Uprising, and Polish struggles of the 1930s and 1940s. Maps, medals, newspapers, Gatling guns, and sundry equipment tell of the campaigns for Polish independence—so many with fatal consequences.
