The Kyoto Station area doesn't jump with nightlife, but if you find yourself looking for a place to hang out on the south side of the building (the opposite side from where the buses depart) there's this convivial Irish pub offering seven draft beers on tap, 60 single malt whiskies, an English-language menu offering the usual fish and chips, pizzas, and, probably most interesting, a Guinness curry. It also has large TV screens showing sports events. There are two other branches, one in the center of town on the east side of Karasuma south of Takatsuji, and the other in Gion, north of Shijo on the west side of Hanamikoji; check the website for more details.
