There's no better place to explore the world of Japanese craft beers than this home-away-from home for owners Tadg, a professional chef, and Mika, a composer and pianist. Its specialty is Japanese craft beers, offered on tap and in bottles, but its food alone is worth a visit due to Tadg's enthusiasm and homemade whole-grain breads, fish and chips made from craft-ale batter, pizzas made from scratch, bangers and mash, chicken pot pie, and its signature lamb dish, slow-cooked for 48 hours, cut into thick chops, and then roasted and served with creamed potatoes and mushy peas and smothered in a red-wine sauce. As this gastro pub settles into its new quarters (just up the road from its previous location), more dishes will be added, including vegan and vegetarian choices. The owners' inviting demeanors make this a friendly, welcoming place, so even solo female travelers can feel at home.
