This place is as laid-back as you would hope from a restaurant that focuses on the slow-food philosophy. Named after the simple wooden prao boats with triangular sails that you find in the Indian Ocean, the restaurant features exposed stone walls and heating pipes that give the interior an industrial but creative feel. The menu focuses on local foodstuffs, from oysters to fish to locally-sourced meats. The place is run as a cooperative, so the suppliers are also partners. The Sunday brunch is excellent, and the menus always have great vegetarian options. The Prao Café, serving salads and hot and cold sandwiches, is at 21 quai Valin.
