Located in the center of the scenic village of Mittelbergheim, this is one of the best bargains for a meal or overnight along the Wine Road. Started in 1614, the comfy inn features a two-story stone staircase which is classified as a historic monument. Furnishings are simple and slightly dated, yet rooms are warmly decorated. Some have exposed beams and stone walls, and all have modern bathrooms with a tub/shower. Locals faithfully flock to its restaurant, where chef Vincent Reuschlé prepares regional specialties with creative flare such as the house specialty “wine-maker’s” ham puff pastry, saddle of rabbit with mixed mushrooms and cocotte of veal sweetbreads with späetzle dumplings.
