Planning a trip to La Ruta Lenca
La Esperanza
Visitor Information -- La Esperanza is a center for facilities for people who live within a few hours' radius. There are several banks and standalone ATMs on the road outside of town, near the gas stations. Cybercafes are everywhere in the center. The best is Explored, which also offers international phone calls at rates cheaper than Hondutel on Parque Central.
Getting There
La Esperanza
There's a dusty square where the old market used to be that serves as a bus terminal, though some buses also leave from the stadium near the highway to Siguatepeque. Destinations include San Pedro Sula (L100; 3 1/2-4 hr.), Gracias (L100; 4 hr.), Siguatepeque (L60; 1 hr.), Tegucigalpa (L90; 3 hr.), and Marcala (L40; 1 1/2 hr.), as well as numerous small towns in the region. Apart from Gracias, which leaves only once per day, buses depart for most destinations throughout the daylight hours.
