Getting There

From Bilbao, head west along the coastal highway (identified at various points as the A-8 or the E-70), and follow the signs to Laredo.

Bus service is available from both Bilbao and Santander. The station is in the town center at Av. de José Antonio s/n (tel. 94-260-49-67). There are at least 18 buses per day coming into Laredo from Bilbao, and as many as 31 per day coming into Laredo from Santander. Travel time to Laredo from Bilbao is 40 minutes, and the one-way fare is 5.30€. Travel time from Santander is 30 minutes, and the one-way fare is 5.50€.

Visitor Information

The tourist information office, Alameda de Miramar s/n (tel. 94-261-10-96; www.laredo.es), is open July 1 to September 15 daily 9am to 9pm. The rest of the year, hours are daily 9:30am to 1:30pm and 4 to 7pm.

Special Events

On the last Friday of August, the annual Battle of Flowers draws thousands of visitors to watch bloom-adorned floats parade through the Old Town.
