This church is a stunning example of 10th century architecture and its square tower dominates the oldest part of the town. The church is built over the tomb of St. Lazarus, a companion of Jesus who lived in ancient Kition (present day Larnaca) and became its first bishop. Embellished with a notable collection of Byzantine icons, this church has one of the island’s finest examples of an 18th century gold-covered baroque iconostasis.
