Planning a trip to Leba
Stowarzyszenie Lokalna Organizacja Turystyczna Leba (11 Listopada 5A; tel. 59/866-25-65; www.lotleba.pl) is the local tourist office. In July and August, it's open weekdays 8am to 8pm, Saturdays 8am to 6pm, and Sundays 10am to 4pm. Off season, it's open weekdays only from 8am to 4pm. Aside from providing the usual local maps, the helpful English-speaking staff also offers advice on rooms and directions to the park. Pick up the complimentary Walking Through Leba for other attractions if you are spending more time here. A good Web resource for the area is www.slowinskipn.pl.
Getting Around
The village is manageable on foot, and Sowinski National Park is a 2km (1 1/4-mile) walk. There are bikes for rent outside the tourist information office. Bike rental company Ciuaa (on a yard opposite Sienkiewicza 4; tel. 696/042-119) charges 4 z per hour or 20 z per day. They also rent bicycles with child-seats and children's bicycles. From May to September, EKO-Tour Melex (tel. 59/866-11-55 or 601/664-183) runs trams to the park entrance for 5 z per person. They speak Polish only; get the staff at the tourist information office to reserve for you.
In summer, there are two to three buses leaving Leba for Lebork every hour until 8pm. Get the current schedule from the tourist information office or at www.przewozy.info.pl. If you take an early train out of the Tri-City and spend 4 to 5 hours here, you will still make the connection back to the Tri-City.
Getting There
From the Tri-City, take the SKM to Lebork. From Lebork, buses run by Bogus (tel. 59/728-23-00; www.przewozy.info.pl) and Tredetrans (tel. 59/863-19-09) leave for Leba every 15 minutes and cost 6 z per person. They drop you on pl. Dworcowy, just around the corner from the tourist information office. Total journey time is about 2 hours. If you're driving, follow the E28 highway in the direction of Supsk, bearing right at Lebork. Journey time is about 1 1/2 hours.
