Leksands Kyrka
Founded in the 13th century, Leksand's parish church might be of passing interest. But the frame competes with the picture: The church's pretty lakeside setting and tree-lined churchyard are so picture perfect, they're more idyllic than the church itself. It has retained its present form since 1715 and is still one of the largest rural churches in Sweden. During renovations in 1971, a burial site was found that dates from the period when the Vikings were being converted to Christianity. There are other treasures as well, including Dalarna's oldest organ, a German font from the 16th century, and a crucifix from the 15th century.
