More than 200 live species of reptiles are on display at this fairly well known sanctuary at kilometer 11 in the Tanimboca indigenous reserve. Operated by Nativa, a non-profit organization, the center helps support important research on the region’s venomous snakes, including a study on the genotoxicity of some poisons in collaboration with the Human Genetics department at the Universidad de los Andes. A visit here should only take an hour or so.
