An Edward Valentine statute of Jackson stands tall over the general's grave in the center of this peaceful cemetery. Jackson's two wives, his daughter, his son-in-law, and grandchildren are interred around him. Also here are the remains of 22 confederate foot soldiers and Gen. E. F. Paxton, who, like Jackson, was killed at Chancellorsville. John Mercer Brooke, who designed the Confederate ironclad Virginia, also known as the Merrimac, is here. The cemetery office, on its northern boundary, distributes a guide to the gravesites.
