This is Lima's classiest hotel. Set beside the Lima Golf Club (guests have special privileges), the property was built in 1927 and has been the center of the city's high society ever since. The hacienda-style hotel feels like an actual country club, with wood paneling and leather armchairs throughout, although service is not at all stuffy. Stained-glass windows, 300 pieces of artwork on loan from the Pedro de Osma Museum, and live piano music wafting through the air on occasion add to the swankiness. The room layouts are all a bit different, though high wood-beam ceilings, antique furniture, and marble bathrooms with Jacuzzis and separate showers are standard. The clubby, lounge-like English Bar is often recognized for the top pisco sour in the city, while the two restaurants consistently get rave reviews and attract an outside crowd. Starbucks, a bank, spa, and jewelry store are conveniently located in the attached strip mall. There's live music Friday and Saturday evenings, and social functions are often held in banquet rooms and the sprawling gardens.
