Opened in 2000 along the Miraflores malecón, across from Parque Salazar and the cliff-side Larcomar shopping center, the Bernardo Fort-Brescia–designed JW Marriott remains one of Lima’s top hotels. It’s also perhaps the best located: The 25-story, gold-accented glass tower offers absolutely unreal Pacific Ocean views. Every modern amenity one could wish for can be found in the comfortable rooms, which either face the ocean or the city. Those expecting the brand’s dependable characteristics won’t be disappointed, as the bold color schemes and heavy dark-wood furniture are here as well. At the base of the building is one of the largest casinos in Lima, as well as a few high-end shops. There’s a good sushi and ceviche bar, as well as an all-day restaurant, La Vista, with a stellar view and one of Lima’s best buffets. Rates drop considerably during the weekend, when there aren’t as many business travelers taking up the rooms.
