Though it has much more competition than it did when it opened in the mid-1990s, Sonesta’s original Peru property is still quite the charmer. The seven-story hotel, beside the colonial olive groves of Parque El Olivar, is a big hit with business travelers, though leisure travelers won’t be disappointed. The rooms are among the largest in Lima, bright and cheery with pastel colors. The bar and restaurant, as well as an additional sushi bar, are a step up from those at most other hotels in town, even if they’re not as prominent as they once were. The large outdoor pool, on a roof terrace with stellar views of the park, has enough lounge chairs to feel like a resort.
