When the Westin opened in 2011, it was the tallest building in all of Peru. Though it has since been surpassed by the neighboring Banco Continental office tower, the 30-story Westin is still one of the most noticeable additions to Lima’s skyline in decades, as it sits right at the corner of one of the busiest intersections in the city. For Westin’s first foray into South America, the chain went all out, bringing in an all-star team that included national brand Libertador, architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia, and interior designer Tony Chi. In terms of technology and sophistication, this is the most advanced hotel in the country, with smart escalators and electronics at every turn. The glossy interiors are infused with touches of pre-Colombian design, and the oversized rooms feature the brand’s signature Heavenly Beds and Heavenly Showers. Lots of shiny metals and leather can be found throughout. Much of the ground floor is dedicated to renowned chef Rafael Piqueras’ excellent fine dining restaurant Maras, along with a smaller casual restaurant and two sleek lobby bars. The second level is home to the Heavenly Spa, the spa in Lima, with a thermal circuit and a full range of original treatments.
