This brick-walled shop decorated with blackboard specials began as a summer pop-up on the Asia beach boulevard and has since blossomed into one of Lima’s finest cafes and bakeries. Model and actor Jonathan Day, who studied artisan baking while traveling around the U.S. and Europe, is best known for his pan de la chola, a seeded, whole-wheat bread that he bakes fresh each morning. Visitors buy it by the loaf, as part of a gourmet sandwich, or with spreads like hummus or tapenade. A handful of other rotating breads—all organic—are also served, as well as Greek yogurt, juices, brownies, and a full variety of great specialty coffees made from fair-trade Peruvian beans. A second, larger location, with an impressive craft beer list, has opened at Calle Miguel Dasso 113–115 in San Isidro.
