This is what a modest, ocean-facing Oregon coast motel used to be like in simpler days, when being at the beach was more about being at the beach than it was about fancy upgraded amenities in a hotel room. I still like the Ester Lee for that very reason. Located at the south end of Lincoln City, this vintage motel and cottages makes absolutely no claims to have glamor or glitz. It’s basic, both inside and out, but the rooms have spectacular views (no balconies, however). And the Ester Lee is probably the least expensive place to stay in Lincoln City. Most units have kitchens and fireplaces (some of them wood-burning, with free firewood). Pay a little more and you can book a cozy cottage that sleeps from two to seven people. There’s a paved access down to the beach, and grocery stores, restaurants, and the casino are about 4 1/2 miles to the north.
