Getting There: Ore. 22 from Salem merges with Ore. 18 before reaching the junction with U.S. 101. From Portland, take U.S. 99W to McMinnville and then head west on Ore. 18. If you’re continuing down the coast from Pacific City, continue on Hwy. 101 S.
Visitor Information: The Lincoln City Visitor Center, 540 NE U.S. 101 (www.oregoncoast.org; tel. 541/994-3302), is open Wednesday to Monday 10am to 4pm (until 5pm Memorial Day to Labor Day).
Festivals: Annual kite festivals include the Summer Kite Festival in late June and the Fall Kite Festival in early to mid-October. In addition, Lincoln City has an annual Sandcastle Building Contest each year in early August. On the nearby Siletz Indian Reservation, the Nesika Illahee, the annual Siletz Pow Wow, takes place on the second weekend in August.
