On a summer night, most of the scantily clad visitors congregate around one of the bars with outdoor tables at Marina Corta. The early evening begins at the Net Cafe, Via Garibaldi 61 (tel. 090-9813527; www.netcafelipari.com/bar.html) where people come not only to surf the Web but also to enjoy drinks and burgers, the big-screen TV, and a beautiful garden. Turmalin (tel. 338-6418362) is a summer dance club off Piazza Municipio near the castle. May through August, it's open nightly from 11pm to 6am, charging a cover of 15€.

Otherwise, nightlife consists of bars and more bars. Both live and recorded music are featured at Chitarra Bar, Salita San Giuseppe 5 (tel. 090-9811554), drawing a young to middle-aged crowd. In summer, it's open daily from 7pm to 4am (until midnight in winter). It shuts down in January and February. A hard-drinking place, Bar Caffè La Vela, Piazza San Onofrio 2 (tel. 090-9880064), is open 24 hours a day in summer, daily from 7am to midnight off season.
