Bancone Covent Garden

A winning combination of perfect handmade pasta, an informally elegant space, and good value has made Bancone a big hit. The supple, star-shaped silk handkerchief pasta dish with walnut butter, nested with an unbroken egg yolk (pictured above), is routinely photographed like a starlet upon arrival and has achieved local star status on social media; The Guardian reviewed the dish as “casually orgasmic.” But every option, served as small plates (get a few) makes the most of fresh ingredients and flavor accents, such as local burrata to a sublime cacio e pepe, a beautiful duck ragù, and a roasted pumpkin ravioli with oyster mushroom and sage brown butter. Only the cocktails disappoint (curated giant ice cube but barely any liquid). For the best service, sit along the counter, where you can more easily catch the attention of a chef to order just one more little work art before dashing to Trafalgar Square, just steps away.
