A stalwart since 1810, but not stuffy like one, Heal’s (like Liberty), was instrumental in forwarding the Arts and Crafts movement in England, and its furniture and housewares, which are usually defined by chic shapes, have proven so influential that in 1978 it donated its archive to the Victoria & Albert museum.
