Campgrounds

Spencer Spit State Park (tel. 360/902-8844) is the island's largest and best campground. This park has 37 campsites set amid tall fir trees. Campsites are $12 to $24 per night, and reservations can be made by contacting Washington State Parks (tel. 888/226-7688; www.parks.wa.gov/reserve.asp). There are also campsites at Odlin County Park (tel. 360/378-8420 for information, or 360/378-1842 for reservations), which is just south of the ferry landing and has 30 campsites along the water. Athletic fields make this more of a community sports center than a natural area. Campsites are $13 to $20 per night. Tent campsites are also available at the privately owned Lopez Farm Cottages and Tent Camping, 555 Fisherman Bay Rd. (tel. 800/440-3556; www.lopezfarmcottages.com), which has 13 walk-in campsites about 2 1/2 miles south of the ferry landing. These campsites have a very private feel, and both showers and a covered cooking area are provided. This campground is open May through October. Campsites are $36 per night for one or two people, and campers must be 14 or older.
