This villa, the former residence (1866–72) of composer Richard Wagner, is a definite highlight for opera buffs, as he composed several works here, including 'Die Meistersinger' (1867). The villa is located on Lake Lucerne's southern shore, and contains historic musical instruments, original scores, and memorabilia (including pictures and letters). You can walk here from Lucerne's Europaplatz (just in front of the main train station and the KKL) in just under 30 minutes by following the walkways that run along the lake's edge.
