Just south of Chacras de Coria, Luján de Cuyo proudly proclaims itself "La Tierra del Malbec," the land of Malbec. The area's dry, hot weather and high altitudes make it an ideal growing place for full-bodied wines. In the distance, the eternally snowcapped Cordón del Plata mountain range dominates the views. A large area made up of a few sprawling towns, this is the place to explore the success and allure of Argentina's most hyped vino tinto. The town of Luján de Cuyo, at the center of the region, offers little to visitors except for a few great ice-cream shops.
