Wangcheng Gongyuan
Every April during the Luoyang Peony Festival (Apr 15-25), this park, built on the former site of a Zhou dynasty city, Wangcheng, is awash in a riot of colors: red, white, black, yellow, purple, pink, blue, green, and every shade in between. Luoyang produces the best peonies China has to offer, so don't miss paying a visit if you're in town then. For an extra ¥5 you can visit the zoo. The zoo and gardens, which open at the crack of dawn, are perfect for early risers.
