Ideal for families and active vacationers, the Rio Mar sits on a splendid beach in the shadow of El Yunque rainforest. Its championship golf courses curve dramatically through the jungle and along the coast, and it offers ample water sports opportunities, and classic Caribbean experiences, like horseback riding on the beach. We also have to give special kudos to the staff who run the excellent kid’s club. The lush grounds, dotted with lakes, add to the appeal, as do the muted, earth and wood toned rooms. There are about a dozen restaurants and bars on premises and a casino, so you have a variety of dining options and some nightlife, but the place remains pretty low-key and you will likely want to eat some meals in nearby Luquillo and Fajardo.
