The "Cabin Capital of Virginia" -- Just as bed-and-breakfasts once spread like wildfire across Virginia, mountain cabins are hot these days. There are so many of them for rent in these parts that Luray calls itself the "Cabin Capital of Virginia." Because many rentals are by the week, cabins and vacation homes are mostly taken by city folk on break from the nearby Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas. The easiest way to rent is through Allstar Lodging (tel. 866/780-STAR [7827] or 540/843-0606;, an agency representing many cabin owners.
