This exquisite 19th-century theater continues to anchor the east side of Plaza Santa Ana and presents performances of dance, orchestral and chamber music, and live theater. Medallions on the facade depict the pantheon of Spanish playwrights, from Calderón de la Barca (1600–81) on the right to Federico García Lorca (1898–1936), appropriately enough on the far left.
