A good place to stop for tapas if you are visiting the Las Ventas
bullring nearby, this restaurant is named after the rolling expanses of Extremadura which lie between the cities of
Cáceres and Badajoz. Yet the food at this busy bullfight-themed place is not particularly extremeño. It serves platefuls
large and small of mainstream Spanish favorites—jamón ibérico, octopus, tomatoes in oil and herbs—and it gets very
busy, especially at weekends. The friendly staff are experts at encouraging you to keep ordering plates to share, helped
along by free tapas every time you order a frothy beer. When you can’t eat any more, there’s usually a free piece of
cake. Great value and great fun.
