The Maldives has two distinct seasons; dry from January to March and wet from mid-May to November, the southwest monsoon period. Temperatures rarely change throughout the year, with a balmy average of 86°F (30°C). Annual rainfall varies from an average of 70 inches (1786mm) in the north of the archipelagos to 90 inches (2277mm) in the south.
