Hotel Moana
Spread over a steep mountainside toward the northern end of Malpaís, just a little inland from the beach, the Hotel Moana has an African theme, which makes for a fun change. Many of the rooms are decorated with tribal masks, shields, spears, and even a zebra skin hung on the walls. The best rooms and the hotel’s restaurant are on the highest points of the property. And though it requires a bit of energy to climb the steps, it’s definitely worth the effort to soak in the unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and rugged coastline. Hotel Moana also rents out a spectacular five-bedroom independent house, Casa Moana, located above the hotel, perfect for larger groups or families.
