In this small, sunny forest, you'll find a collection of 200 of Nicaragua's native flora. More popular with visiting schoolchildren than tourists, the arboretum is worth a visit for anyone craving greenery in this ungreen city. Still, it must be said, some plants look better than others. It's especially worth visiting in March when Nicaragua's national flower, the sacuanjoche, comes into fragrant bloom. The red flower of the national tree, the malinche, blossoms here May through August.
