Thanks to the city's steady and healthy local tourism industry, combined with the U.S. military base, Manta actually has a relatively vibrant bar and club scene. West End (tel. 05/2621-587), on Avenida Flavio Reyes; and Krug Pub (tel. 05/2624-700), on Avenida Flavio Reyes and Calle 18, are two other popular clubs. For a more mellow night out, head to Malecón Esenico and grab a seat at one of the many outdoor restaurants and bars there.
If you want to try your luck at some gambling, head to the Fantasy Casino (tel. 05/2629-444) at the Hotel Oro Verde. This is a big, modern, glitzy casino with all the tables, games, and machines you could want. There's also the flashy Casino del Mar (tel. 09/6910-546) in the small strip mall attached to the Howard Johnson hotel.
