Set on a series of rolling hills amid its own private reserve, this ultra-hip hotel offers up the most luxury and pampering in the Manuel Antonio area. Every guest enjoys personal concierge services, as well as a complimentary 20-minute spa treatment. Rooms come in a range of sizes and categories, although you’ll need to opt for a suite if you want a private balcony (deluxe suites get both a balcony and private rooftop terrace). All have hardwood floors, a living area with rattan furniture, and cloudlike mattresses. There’s a three-tiered pool with connecting waterfalls carved into the hillside, and the hotel also provides shuttle service to the beach. The Luna restaurant is terrific and the hotel can set up cooking classes with the head chef. Gaia is a proudly “green” resort and has been awarded “4 Leaves” by the Certification for Sustainable Tourism program.
