Catedral Maracaibo
A cream-colored, classical facade dominates Plaza Bolivar at the eastern end of Paseo de las Ciencias. The city cathedral has been here since the city's foundation in 1574, but was rebuilt in the early 19th century and now houses the famous relic Cristo Negro, a charred crucifix salvaged from an Indian uprising in 1600.
