wo Federal-era mansions make up this gracious inn, a stone’s throw from the Old Town House. From the wood floors to the 1820s beams to the secluded heated pool, it’s both historic and relaxing. Rooms are comfortably furnished in period style, with some attractive antiques; many have canopy or four-poster beds. Eleven have working fireplaces, and five have double Jacuzzis. The best rooms, on the top floor at the back of the building (away from the street), have distant harbor views. The undeniably romantic inn also attracts business travelers. Families with children under age 12 need to make prior arrangements. For longer stays, the Inn also has five apartments.
