Formerly located in Le Panier, FRAC PACA, Marseille's regional contemporary art museum, is now situated squarely in the up-and-coming Joliette Docks district. The museum’s mosaic-like recycled glass structure was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. It’s a fitting tribute to the FRAC’s thousand-strong collection of artworks. It was inaugurated—like so many cultural spaces in this city—in 2013. Within the museum itself, exhibitions spread over two galleries. There's also a restaurant, two terraces, artists’ residences, a performance hall, and a bookstore.
