Planning a trip to Massa Lubrense and Sant' Agata

Visitor Information

Your best source of local information is the small Proloco tourist office, Viale Filangeri 11, Massa Lubrense (tel. 081-5339021). You'll find a pharmacy (tel. 081-8789081) at Via Palma 16, Massa Lubrense. The hospital is in Sorrento. For an ambulance, dial tel. 118. You can call the police at tel. 113 or 112, and you can reach the fire department at tel. 115. You'll find a post office (tel. 081-8789045) in Massa Lubrense at Via Massa Turro 13 and another in Sant'Agata sui due Golfi at Corso Sant'Agata 32 (tel. 081-8780162). There is a Banco di Napoli (tel. 081-8089687) at no. 15 on Viale Filangeri in Massa Lubrense, and a Deutsche Bank (tel. 081-8089530) at no. 26.

Getting There

Sorrento is the gateway to the rest of the peninsula. Although SITA's (tel. 089-405145; www.sitabus.it) bus service from Sorrento is frequent and efficient, we feel that, unless you have unlimited time, renting a scooter or a car -- or even better, a taxi or limousine with a driver -- is a lot more functional: You'll be able to see more, have a flexible schedule, and your driver will double as a guide. Distances are short, hence charges remain quite reasonable (consider about 45€ per hour for two people, with discounts for longer periods).

Another option is renting a small launch from one of the many boatyards, or hiring one of their captains to guide you; or you may sign up for one of their organized excursions. We recommend Peppe, and his beautiful boat, La Granseola, Marina del Cantone (tel. 081-8081027, c/o Ristorante Le Sirene; mobile 338-9542573; www.lagranseola.com). Other reliable providers are Coop Marina della Lobra, Marina della Lobra (tel. 081-8089380; www.marinalobra.com); Cooperativa S. Antonio, Marina del Cantone (tel. 081-8081638; cooperativasantonio@libero.it); and Nautica 'O Masticiello, Marina del Cantone (tel. 081-8081443, or 339-3142791; www.masticiello.com).
