Kahanu Garden

The world’s largest collection of breadfruit trees—a staple food for Pacific islanders—thrives here. The garden has some 130 distinct varieties gathered from 20 tropical island groups. You’ll also view a Canoe Garden, filled with the many useful plants that the early Polynesian settlers brought to Hawai‘i: sugar cane, banana, sweet potato, taro, and paper mulberry (used to make kapa cloth). The 3-acre stone heiau (temple) behind the garden radiates spiritual power.
