This cozy, romantic, intimate cottage, hidden on 2.5 acres in Maliko Gulch, overlooks a stream with bamboo, sweet-smelling ginger, and banana trees; after extended rain, there may even be a waterfall. It’s perfect for honeymooners, lovers, and fans of Hawaiiana art. The moment you step into this 400-square-foot, contemporary, casual-chic cottage (with an additional 156-sq.-ft. screened deck), you will be delighted at the carefully placed memorabilia (ukulele tile, canoe paddle, and the like) found throughout. The cottage has a full kitchen with everything you could possibly want to cook with, including breakfast for your first morning. The Hawaiian theme carries into the living room, where a cabinet painted with a tropical design houses a VCR and stereo. The comfy queen bed opens to the living area. The screened porch has a table, chairs, and a couch—perfect for curling up with a good book. There’s also a barbecue outside, plus all the beach toys you could want to borrow. Host Bob is a ceramic artist (with his creations throughout the cottage), and his wife, Sonny, manages Dolphin Galleries, from where she has selected the best of the best artwork for the cottage.
