Brighter and classier than “tavern” suggests, this tiny restaurant overlooking Mala Wharf in Lahaina is perfect. The oceanfront seating lets diners peer down on sea turtles foraging in the surf. The bartenders know their business, and the multicultural menu offers health-conscious and hedonistic options, from the bone marrow with flaxseed toast and pipikaula (dried beef) to the seared ahi with shiitake ginger sauce. The daily brunch is among Maui’s tastiest, with such crowd pleasers as crab frittata and ube pancakes. Note: Brunch and lunch are moderately priced, but many dinner entrees fall under the expensive category. Night owls will appreciate the late-night happy hour from 10pm to midnight daily.
