Mauritius is ringed by more than 100 hotels and resorts, many of which are five-star. Nearly all overlook their key commodity: immaculate white sand beaches. The northwest is home to many of the more exclusive boutique retreats, while the southeast around Le Morne has sprawling resorts and golf courses. Resort rooms err on the expensive side, but it is possible to find moderately priced getaways and some all-inclusives. It's easy to get around the island by taxi for meals and excursions to other beaches. High season runs November to April.
